We offer training for prospective "Right from the Start" course
leaders on a regular schedule. If you have more than 15 staff interested
in taking the training, and are interested in hosting a session in your
local community, please contact us directly. You will find information
about our next scheduled leader training session below.
New RFTS Videos Coming Soon!
The Infant-Parent Program recently completed a revision of the existing
video vignettes. The new video clips have much improved technical quality
both in sound and in visual quality. As well, in response to feedback,
the video uses a wider diversity of interaction situations and families
and family members, including boys and girls with and without special
needs, fathers and mothers, teen parents, and parents and babies from
other
cultures.
We will use the new video clips on a trial basis in the early fall during
RFTS sessions run in Hamilton to see if they are well received by the
parents in that group and if the leaders find them helpful in bringing
out
the important points in the curriculum. We will make any necessary
further
revisions prior to releasing the new videotape in the late fall of 2005
or early winter of 2006 and forward information on how to order the new
videotape at that time.
RFTS is Going Even More International!
Though it has been offered for several years across Canada and in communities
in Sweden and the United States, other countries (i.e., Brazil and
the Dominican Republic) have expressed interest. With the help of Dr.
Alison Niccols, Chedoke alumnus Dr. John McLennan (now at the University
of
Calgary) was successful in receiving a grant to study the transport of
a Canadian intervention to a third world community.
Would you like to organize a training session in your community? If
so, contact Dr. Alison Niccols at niccols@hhsc.ca.
